Summary:
Process Engineer owns the plant floor layout and encompassed assembly and fabrication processes for an assigned department and will be responsible for the improvement of the productivity metric for the department, and will act as the engineering resource in support of daily production needs.
Job Description:
Own and prepare reports for the Productivity metric on a daily basis for the department.
Act as supervisor for Engineering Assistants.
Facilitate Kaizen events for the department in support of Continuous Improvement Own and improve the assembly and fabrication processes on the production lines.
Maintain department layout and coordinate equipment moves through Maintenance.
Establish and maintain BOMs and routing data.
Manage projects associated with the plant strategic direction Support New Product Development activities in terms of process and product qualifications.
Assist in evaluating design for assembly (DFA).
Utilize standard Industrial Engineering tools for the quantification of labor and establishment of headcount templates.
Monitor and adjust line capacities in response to extreme product volume changes.
Respond to Safety incidents and participate in Safety initiatives for the department.
Act as the ergonomic resource for the department.
Coordinate and lead 6S activities.
Competencies:
Timely Decision Making Functional / Technical Skills Informing Planning Problem Solving Drive for Results Technical Learning TQM / Re-Engineering Requirements:
BSME in Engineering from accredited four-year college or university.
2 years of minimum experience required.
Preferred in high volume assembly and packaging, new product introductions, process improvements, error proofing, tool and fixture design, machine design, process control, familiarity with product costing / routings, project management, and cellular manufacturing.
Detailed problem solving and troubleshooting.
Preferred knowledge of formal problem solving methodologies such as 8-D, DOE, Six Sigma, etc.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to write appropriate responses in the form of e-mails, letters, and supporting charts and graphs to achieve the preceding job descriptions.
Ability to prepare presentations and administer speeches in support of the job requirements.
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Word software; Excel spreadsheet software; SAP inventory software, MS Outlook software, Minitab statistical software, AutoCAD and/or Pro-E.
Supervisory
Responsibilities:
This position requires the administration of direction and leadership to Engineering Assistants on a daily basis.
These requirements include performance evaluations, time-keeping management, and daily tasking in response to the requirements of the production personnel.
