Non-Exempt Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Considerable knowledge of custodial work and associated supplies, materials, and equipment.
Working knowledge of repairs and basic maintenance.
Ability to supervise other custodians.
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with a variety of people.
Ability to estimate long-range requirements for custodial personnel, supplies, materials, and equipment.
Must have adequate computer skills.
Must be able to maintain simple clerical records and equipment.
Must have good communication skills.
Education and Experience Experience in custodial work; a minimum of 3-5 years of work experience in Craven County Schools is highly preferred.
High school diploma or equivalence.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities Explains and/or demonstrate work procedures to custodians and other employees.
Provides in-service training for custodians.
Plans work schedules for individual sites.
Prepares set up plans for work rooms and custodial closets.
Assist Custodial Supervisor in moving staff to maintain adequate coverage.
Assigns custodians to work areas and duties.
Makes rounds to determine if work is being successfully completed.
Inspects the work of custodians.
Ensures correction of deficiencies discovered during inspections.
Maintains simple clerical records of supplies and personnel information.
Notes need to repair or replace equipment and submits notice to supervisor.
Performs other duties as specified by the Principal, Maintenance Supervisor, or designee.
Assist schools in establishing and maintaining an inventory of supplies and equipment.
Will serve as the acting Custodial supervisor in the absence of the Custodial Supervisor.
Physical Requirements Ability to lift moderate to heavy weight (40-100 pounds), stand, walk, run, bend, stoop, push, pull, reach, and climb ladders, for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds routinely and 100 pounds occasionally.
Ability to reach with hands and arms routinely and to carry furniture (such as tables, chairs, supplies, and materials).
Ability to maintain composure in difficult situations.
Must be able to drive to a variety of school sites.
Special Requirements Must Maintain a Valid NC driver's license and present upon request.
