Position
Summary:
Our company is currently looking for a professional and responsible individual to fill the role of Compliance Associate.
This person would be responsible for assisting the Compliance Department with processing recertifications and assisting with the operations of the department.
In addition, the position will assist the Finance Department with various tasks, as needed.
The purpose of this position is to provide the additional capacity needed to effectively manage the day to day HUD compliance requirements.
Essential Functions:
Compliance Associate must be able to travel to different sites one week each month, as needed.
Compliance Associate must be able to work extended hours, as needed.
Ensure that recertifications are received and processed in a timely manner.
Process annual and interim recertifications for residents, in accordance with HUD requirements.
Process move-ins and move-outs.
Review and maintain resident files, in accordance with HUD requirements and MPM policy.
Ensure that certifications and recertifications are scheduled and managed efficiently, and that all program activity is HUD compliant, with regard to regulations and deadlines.
Attend HUD trainings to maintain knowledge of industry guidelines and regulations.
Answer questions and address issues relating to tenant compliance.
Perform journal entries, general data entry, and review financial transactions daily.
Enter tenant receivables into the software system, when needed.
Ensure that property dates are advanced in a timely manner.
Assist the Senior Compliance Specialist in overall day-to-day functions.
Maintain and audit HUD files, in accordance with MPM.
Ensure compliance with HUD income requirements, utility allowance, and yearly rent updates.
Review monthly activity in HUD software and Metropolitan Property Management systems to ensure accuracy.
Ensure that HAP contracts are processed for renewal 120 days prior to their expiration dates.
Coordinate the necessary corrections for MOR, REAC findings.
Assure the timely processing and receipt of third-party verifications; of correct calculations; and hat all paperwork is signed and dated properly.
Process tenant background checks.
Perform EIV monthly and quarterly reporting.
Assist in all aspects of rent collection, including entering tenant rents into the property management software system.
Perform regular purging and storage of tenant files.
Assist with the initial and annual 202 / 811 PRAC recertification process.
Must stay informed and comply with company policies and procedures, as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Perform tenant data entry into the OneSite property management software system.
Be courteous and helpful to co-workers, residents and prospective residents.
Work on special projects, as assigned by the Executive Director
Qualifications:
High School Diploma, supplemented by college degree in accounting, economics, statistics, or any general business degree; Prior experience with Section 8 or related subsidy programs is preferred Proficient understanding of basic math concepts Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to produce communications and other materials that are effective and of a professional nature Computer proficiency with strong knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Power Experience in and working knowledge of business/office administration Ability to learn new and business-specific software programs, as needed Must be a self-starter who is organized, detailed oriented, and can effectively deal with and prioritize a variety of tasks Ability to demonstrate initiative, professionalism, integrity and exercise confidentiality in all areas of performance Ability to perform complex or varied tasks Able to travel 25% of the time Education and/or
